Daily Discovery: BANTU – Wayo And Division

Nigerian band BANTU has released the first single “Wayo And Division” from their upcoming album, set to be released in June 2023.

The song is a social commentary on the political situation in Nigeria, focusing on how poverty and fear have been used to divide the oppressed. BANTU calls on listeners to resist oppression and recognise recurring patterns of deception.

The 13-piece band, based in Lagos, blends various music genres, including Afro-funk, afrobeat, highlife, and Yoruba. Their previous album, Everybody Get Agenda, received critical acclaim for its socially conscious lyrics.
