Olcay Bayir, a London-based singer-songwriter of Turkish-Kurdish descent, recently released a live rendition of her single ‘Asude’, extracted from her new EP Inside – Icerde.
The song features Argentinian guitarist and producer Ignacio Monteverde and Turkish saz virtuoso Murat Sığırcı.
“This song is about accepting lost love. ‘Asude’ is a word that implies a decision to be at peace, or more positively, acceptance. Finishing with the lines “In the hands of love there is no smile, I can’t say I’m happy”, the song reminds us that life may not take us where we wanted, but we may be at peace.
Just as the whole world has had to go through a grieving process, all of us must learn to lose loves, dreams and ultimately life, and in the losing find the things that really matter”.
