It all started on a November night back in 2008 at the late New Empowering Church in Hackney. Since then, London’s afrobeat and afro-funk purveyors Afrobeat Vibration kept us dancing to their afro-vibes and West African rhythms almost on a weekly basis.
On Friday, they will celebrate their 9th Anniversary in style, with an all-nighter at Camden’s Jazz Café featuring on stage Dele Sosimi and his Afrobeat Orchestra.
We thought that there was no better occasion to present a brand-new mix compiled by one of Afrobeat Vibration founders and old-time friend of Rhythm Passport, Koichi Sakai.
Enjoy some of the finest West, Central and East African vibes from the 1970s and ’80s, don’t miss their party on Friday and keep up the good afrobeat vibration!
