“I grew up with the sounds of Jungle and Drum and Bass. I became interested in the origins of Ragga Jungle and dived deep into Reggae and Dub. From there my love for Caribbean music grew. Various genres of Afro-Diasporic music, including grime and dubstep, took me in recent years back to the continent where it all began, Africa.
In this mixtape I close the circle, taking bass music from the West into Africa, and the other way round. I bring you a worldwide odyssey of Bass music. Without ticking all the boxes for those various genres, you hear Bass from the UK next to African, the Caribbean and many hybrids of future Afro-Diasporic music. With tracks like ‘Work’, ‘Hide U’ and ‘Played-A-Live’ there is also a nostalgic side to the mixtape – One that adds a global context to a couple of Bass hits from the collective mind.”
