Review: 47soul – Fundraiser For Gaza @ Epic Dalston (London, 1st August 2014)

47SOUL formed of four inspired Palestinian musicians that span the divides from Amman to Ramallah and Beirut to the Galilee. Defiant of regional borders they travel taking their futuristic Palestinian wedding music on their 2nd UK summer tour. Members El Far3i (Singer, Darbouka/percussion), Z The People (Singer, Keys, Electronics), Walaa Sbeit (Singer, Percussion) and El Jihaz (Singer, Guitar, Electronics) have one mission; invade the world with the futuristic sound of Dabke!

Received in London Dalstons’ Epic venue with great rapture, their unique, fun and uplifting sounds not only moved the crowd in body, but in intellect with informative and philosophical lyric. “Every land is the Holy Land” reminds us that we are all intrinsically connected to the concept of ‘home’ and values surrounding that.

This brand new collective has amassed fans in the Middle East and the UK bringing the energy of a Palestinian wedding mixed with reggae, hip-hop, and Arabic music. They are a true celebration of global roots culture.

The night was hosted by OneTaste and born out of a necessity to act and gather people together to unite around the crisis in Palestine; the event was a fund raiser for Al-Assria Cultural Centre for Children in Jabalia Refugee Camp, Gaza.
