Hailing from Tanzania and learning his craft from his grandfather, Saidi Kanda grew up to become one of the most talented multi-instrumentalists of the traditional African music scene.
A former member of the great Remmy Ongala's Super Matimila Band, Saidi won the coveted Womad Percussionist Of the Year Award in 1989, before forming Orchestra Baboma and playing with some of the greats of African music including Papa Wemba, Kofi Olamindea, Mose Fanfan.
