Focus Organization Presents Yaaba Funk Live


Focus Organization are exited to announce their upcoming collaboration with multi-cultural south London band, YAABA FUNK, at the fantastic east London venue Open The Gate.

Yaaba Funk are a Hi-Life/Afro-Funk explosion. A product of Brixton, and influenced by 1970’S Ghanaian hi-life, the funky sounds of James Brown and UK sounds like Roots Manuva and The Specials. Since forming in 2006, Yaaba Funk have appeared at the Barbican as part of African musician's tribute to James Brown, Future World Funk, Afrogroov's Components, the main stage at Shambala Festival, Rise festival in Finsbury Park, freshly back from Zanzibar for the Sauti Za Busara Festival 2011.

YAABA FUNK @ La Fête will be a night of 'floor-filling extravaganza, combining the tightest rhythm section this side of Accra, fat analogue basslines, blazing horns, sparkling African and gritty rock guitars.'
