A night dedicated to some of the best in British folk music. Three award-winning acts from the South, the North and the, well, very North – ‘Essex charmers’ Mawkin, ‘Tyneside terrors’ Monster Ceilidh Band and ‘sassy lassies’ The Shee – will be providing you with a night of foot-stompin’, barn-stormin’, high energy folk. So, grab your dancing shoes, crack those glowsticks, pin your ears back and get ready for the twists and turns of a new generation that have been making folk fun.

The Shee
Amy Thatcher: piano, accordion, clogs
Laura-Beth Salter: mandolin, voice
Lillias Kinsman-Blake: flute, fiddle
Olivia Ross: fiddle, voice
Rachel Newton: harp, voice, fiddle
Shona Mooney: fiddle, viola
The 'fresh, feisty' (fRoots) Shee are exceptional. An all-female band with three powerful vocalists and an astonishing level of instrumental prowess, their diverse musical influences combine to produce an adventurous brew of folk, Gaelic and bluegrass. Their second studio recording, 'Decadence', (October 2010) went straight into the World Music Charts Europe. Individual musical achievements include BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician 2006, and the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland for Best Use of Music 2009. Members of the band have performed with Sting, The Unusual Suspects, Shooglenifty, Kathryn Tickell Band and Scandinavian group Frigg.
"Powerful, layered harmonies, striking rhythms and a unique folk sound!" Tim Cumming, Songlines
"Flirtatiously funky all-female band... a stand-out at the festival" The Scotsman
