GOODNESS 4.10 –––– FOLD, E16 4SA
To kick off our 2019/20 season, we’re joined by four artists navigating the more experimental and protean dimensions of bass music. Responsible for one of the standout dance music albums of 2018, Djrum is one of the most technically accomplished DJs on the circuit today, approaching a wide and diverse library of music from a genre-blind perspective, blending, chopping and scratching his way through moods with ease.
Nkisi similarly occupies her own particular sonic world, drawing from rave culture old and new, with influences from her early years spent in The Democratic Republic of Congo and Belgium. The result is a DJ style that correlates pan-African drum tracks with 90s hardcore and gabber with remarkable fluency.
She is arguably part of a current experimental music continuum of which Christoph de Babalon is a founding father. Active in the rave, drum & bass, and soundscape/ambient scenes for the best part of 25 years, he is a true legend & we’re thrilled to be joined by him for a live set.
Making a name for himself as a producer through some excellent releases on Whities and The Trilogy Tapes, Minor Science's intricate, hi-tech sound is one of the most distinctive of recent times. A stylistic hybrid between the old – UKG, dubstep, and other strands of UK dance music heritage – and the new, detailed, and innovative, he is one of the most interesting producer-DJs around at the moment.
