A delicate double bill featuring two unique singer-songwriters

Spanish indie-folk sensation Lourdes Hernandez (the voice and songwriter of Russian Red) crafts heartfelt and tender songs, delivering them in a subtle and heart-felt style. Captivating audiences worldwide, she shot to fame in her native Spain with the release of her debut album, I Love Your Glasses (2008). She’s here in London to perform songs from the release Fuerteventura (2011), recorded by esteemed producer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, David Byrne, Mogwai). Guesting on the album were Belle and Sebastian’s Stevie Jackson (guitar) and Bob Kildea (bass) who appear tonight alongside Hernández’s own band.

Rachel Sermanni’s is one of Scotland’s most exciting new talents. Combining smoky vocals with an effortless stage presence, the singer-songwriter’s beautiful songs range from spiky art-pop to dreamy pastoral folk. A string of international festival appearances have seen her perform alongside Anna Calvi, KT Tunstall and Mumford & Sons (the track My Friend Fire was recorded and produced by the band’s vocalist/keyboard player Ben Lovett). She’s joined here by Siobhan Anderson, Laura Wilkie & Louise Bichan (fiddles), Jennifer Austin (keys) Leo Forde (guitar) Joe Rattray (bass) Louis Abbott & Phil Hague (percussion) to perform tracks from the self-produced, sold out limited edition Bothy Sessions (2011) and eagerly awaited debut EP, Black Currents (released Jan 2012).
