When you talk about Latin soul music, the name Joe Bataan will inevitably crop up.

The New Yorker begun his career half a century ago in 1967, with booagloo and doo-wop influences permeating his early work, before going on to coin the term 'salsoul', a genre that he then turned into a label of the same name.

As a recent Boiler Room show has attested, the veteran still plays with the same verve and vigour that first marked him out as a unique talent 50 years ago - we can't wait to welcome the Latin legend to our stage.
