A musical journey from South America to the Middle East: drawing on a fascinating variety of music from around the globe, Kosmos trio's original and unique arrangements of Jewish, Polish and Greek music glide seamlessly into hot-blooded tango, Japanese folksong and improvisation, referencing classical composers such as Bach, Brahms and Sarasate.
Harriet Mackenzie (violin), Meg Hamilton (viola) and Miloš Milivojević (accordion) are soloists in their own right and bring their individual talents to the group, re-defining the relationship between classical and world music.
Described by Richard Morrison of The Times as having "telepathic rapport, dazzling virtuosity, serious scholarship, intellectual curiosity and impeccable musicianship", the trio has twice been winners of 'Selected Artists' for the Making Music Concert Promoters Network.
Kosmos has performed internationally to great acclaim, notably London's Southbank Centre, Wales Millenium Centre, tours in Poland, Italy, Greece and live performances on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM.
"Revelatory" The Telegraph.
The venue is unique and worth the trip alone, let alone the excellent music! Sands Films is home to an exquisite sofa-filled cinema that is hidden away in the riverside enclave that is Rotherhithe Village, just two minutes from Rotherhithe Overground Station. Settle in and make yourself comfy: rather uniquely tea and coffee is included in your ticket. And fear not, the Mayflower Pub is just next door!
