Lau Nau, Vile Electrodes

Lau Nau, aka Laura Naukkarinen, is one of the most respected and compelling artists in the contemporary music scene in Finland. Her songs are imbued with a cinematic breadth of vision and her idiosyncratic, finely honed sound world builds on fragile, spectral otherness. She works using both acoustic and electronic instruments, from field recordings to analogue synthesizers, from vocals and traditional instruments to musique concrete and found objects.

Besides performing as Lau Nau, she composes, produces and performs music for new films, silent films, theatre, dance and sound installations. Her works have been nominated to various music prizes as Teosto-, Emma-, Jussi- and Femma prizes.

Lau Nau's most recent release is the soundtrack for the film, Land Without God, directed by Mannix Flynn, Lotta Petronella and Maedhbh McMahon. The film is being screened the day before this show by the Irish Cultural Centre in London: https://irishculturalcentre.co.uk/event/film-the-land-without-god-followed-by-qa-with-dir-gerard-mannix-flynn/

Lau Nau will perform material from the soundtrack, as well as other songs from her extensive and impressive catalogue in a very special presentation.

Special guests are Vile Electrodes, who will present a modular set. The UK's best electronic act, Vile Electrodes will explore the creative potential of the modular synth.
