With a following to rival flamenco, the haunting melodies of Portuguese fado (traditional Portuguese folk-blues) hold listeners spellbound. Claudia Aurora is its powerful new voice. Her debut album "Silencio" (World Village/Harmonia Mundi, 31 Oct 2011) is creating a big buzz among the critics as the first collection of original fado songs to be recorded in the UK. She grew up in a tiny village just outside Porto, yet only began to sing fado when she had settled in Bristol.

‘Boy, she has a voice, as elementally strong as the tides of which she sings, and as imbued with the ability to induce calm and awe.’ Venue

‘Claudia Aurora enraptures with the spine-tingling emotion of her powerful, mournful fado torch songs.’ St George’s Bristol
