Tigran Hamasyan in a unique piano and choral exploration of Armenian Music: a fluent improviser fuses with the rich folkloric music of his native country.
With the twenty four voices of The Yerevan State Choir accompanying Tigran on a sacred journey, he performs works he has arranged by seven famous Armenian composers including Komitas, who is well known to admirers of performances by Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble. Titled “Luys I Luso” , the music will be releasesd on ECM New Series in September 2015
Tigran although still in his mid twenties is already a solo recording artist for Verve/Universal, Nonesuch and ECM and has been much praised by piano luminaries Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Brad Mehldau for his dazzling virtuosity and has been feted in UK Press:
