UK dub pioneer Mad Professor pays tribute to his friend and long-time collaborator, touring the UK to celebrate his life in his own unique dub style.
Joining the Professor will be Lee Perry’s son Omar Perry. Born in Kingston Jamaica in 1968, Omar grew up in a musical environment watching some of the greatest artists that ever worked in his father’s studio, the “Black Ark”: Max Romeo, Junior Murvin, Bob Marley with the Wailers and more.
Finishing off the bill we bring you Earl 16. Earl grew up in Kingston, Jamaica and was influenced by artists such as Dennis Brown. In the late 1970s, Earl recorded four tracks at Perry’s Black Ark studio, including the original recording of “White Belly Rat”, also meeting Earl Morgan of The Heptones who later produced his album, Shining Star.
On the passing of Lee Scratch Perry longtime friend and collaborator Mad Professor penned a touching tribute to the late dub visionary:
“The end of an era! We first worked in the early eighties, recording several tracks and doing several tours, having many laughs, sharing many dreams…
What a character! Totally ageless! Extremely creative, with a memory as sharp as a tape machine! A brain as accurate as a computer! We travelled the world together…Japan, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, all over the USA and Canada… and many more places. Never a dull moment! All the Bob Marley stories… all the Coxone Dodd stories!! And many more…
A clear understanding of the music and reggae industry… He guided me through the complicated reggae landscape, taught me how to balance a track to create hits… he knew it… I am happy to have learnt from him..
Sometimes he is the father, other times the son, sometimes, he is the advisor, other times he is seeing advise! I am missing him already, but happy to have known him. We have released about 20 album releases, and have another 20 albums waiting to be released…the end of an era !”

Review: Natty, Congo Natty, Mad Professor, Subajah & Trojan Soundsystem @ Electric Brixton (London, 4th November 2016)
Tonight begins with a performance from Subajah, who, in and of himself, is an incredibly talented man. He displays his abilities as a rapper, singer and composer with real aplomb. In an age of vapid consumerism, it’s pleasing to find artists willing to stand up and go against the grain, educating the…
