It is the happiest of seasons, and as the old saying goes, the London Suns shines down on Brixton a little brighter when the Familia roll up to Hootanannys! Ok so it's not an old saying, but we reckon it'll catch on double quick with you lovely lot. This June we're delighted to bring you some seriously high energy live performances from some unique international artists. En la casa this time round, tenemos Papayera - think big band, full-power, Afro-Colombian action. Boom! Hot on their heels are the sweet sweet roots vibes of Marumba, direct from Italia, combining Reggae and Ska. And last but not least; we'll be joined by a very special guest indeed.... companeros, que corren la palabra, The Mexican Institute of Sound has come to London to bless us with a DJ set. ¡No te lo pierdas!
Heavyweight Cumbia / Afro-Colombian big band
Payayera are a charismatic, tecnicolour 10-piece band made up of some much loved players on London's vibrant Latin music scene. The music is driven by indigenous and folkloric rhythmns, which morph into the booty shaking sounds of Cumbia, Porro and Vallenato that fill Colombia's city streets today. Guaranteed to have everyone in good spirits? and (probably) soaked in rum for luck.
RUBBA DUB & MARUMBA
Reggae / Ska / Roots
Marumba, reggae band from Italy, who have carve dout a strong reputation perofrming alongside the likes of reggae titans like Tarrus Riley, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Tonino Carotone. They've completed done two European tours and an album their first album, and their sound shifts easily between English and Italian, Roots and Ska.
KING KONG FUNK
'King Kong Funk' is an energetic and experienced power band from Peru, Argentina and UK-Hungary. Based in Costa del Sol the band play an awesome and unique blend of modern & classic funk, jazz, disco and experimental grooves fused with Latin rhythms along with high-powered vocals. You will find out Latin funk is not such a strange category after all - it makes total sense, not just on paper but also on the dance floor.

Since the Mexican Revolution about 100 years ago, Mexican artists have strived to forge a new cultural identity and landscape separate from its colonial history. New realities are created through music, and trust us, Mexican musical visionary DJ Camilio Laura has got his sound palette full up to the brim. Lara explores his country's indigenous heritage in writing music for the newly established National Orchestra in Mexico, as well as mashing up sample styles such as Norteño, Cumbia and Folk with the Techno and Electronic sounds of the new Millennia in his awe-inspiring DJ sets. Not to be missed.
