Nogabe Randriaharimalala was born in Madagascar and began playing various instruments when he was a child. He left Madagascar in 1977 for Beijing where he became the drummer of the very first rock band in China called "Peking All Stars". He moved to Hong Kong in 1990 where he set up his first band and produced 2 albums. He was spotted by a local production company who sent him to London in 1997 to record his 3rd album.
His music has evolved and matured over the years and is now more traditional malagasy style, like his most recent album "Afatra" shows.
"The acoustic guitar is Nogabe's weapon of choice and he makes it sound unlike it does anywhere else... It's spotless, bell-cleartone is matched by a dazzling agility and liquidity that a million bedroom singer-songwriters could only dream of" Womad Festival Programmer, 2009
