Blending hypnotic, folk-inspired melodies and heavy electronic beats, Omar Souleyman’s live sets are the stuff of legends. His international following and growing status has led to multiple collaborations with the likes of Björk and Four Tet, the latter of which helped him release his critically acclaimed studio debut Wenu Wenu and 2015’s Bahdeni Nami.
Omar Souleyman will grace the Jazz Cafe on the 2nd of November with his electrifying performance of songs mixing dance and Kurdish, Ashuri, Arabic and Turkish folk music. He started his career as a part-time wedding singer in north-eastern Syria and has become a cult favourite of fans of international beats….
