"Jazz washes away the dust of everyday life...". For the purposes of dust removal in the bitter month of January, we're resurrecting Played Twice.
You remember the drill, right?
After an audiophile playback Pharoah Sanders' "Pharoah" (from the India Navigation label, including the numbers "Harvest Time", "Love Will Find a Way", and "Memories of Edith Johnson"),
Shabaka Hutchings (sax);
Tom Herbert (double bass);
Tom Skinner (drums);
David Okumu (guitar); and
Sam Shepherd (keys)
will play their live reinterpretation of the music.
Here’s approximately how the evening will run:
