Awesome Tapes From Africa pitches up at Corsica Studios for a night of African rhythms and cassette bound rarities to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. Set up in 2006, the blog-turned-label is one of the last decade's most inspired musical concepts. Growing from founder Brian Shimkovitz trawling the cassette stalls of African markets for locally released gems to feed a sprawling, culturally insightful online trove, today it's a fully fledged record label transmitting the sounds of Africa and beyond to a global audience. The night will celebrate a pioneering musical project in one of South London's best loved club venues.

His unique works would otherwise be unrecognised and under-celebrated, both in the west and his native Ghana, if it wasn’t for the diligent work of Brian Shimkovitz of Awesome…
