African Night Fever and Ropetackle proudly present a free afternoon of African music and workshops, featuring performances by Zimbaremabwe and others TBA.Zimbaremabwe is a group based in Brighton, but with its musical roots in Zimbabwe. Led by Linos Wengara Magaya, they play traditional music centred on the Mbira (a traditional thumb piano), the spiritual instrument of Zimbabwean culture, as well as Mbira reggae, which brings the sounds of the Mbira tradition together with modern reggae.Linos will begin with a 20-minute discussion on the Mbira, plus the group will run a workshop on the instrument.
