Driven by a passionate love of all things music from Jazz to Hindustani and from Rahman to Mozart, South Asian band Side Partition are a collective that combines all these genres and influences and creates a refreshing and unique form of fusion music. Founding members brothers Ranit and Rajit are tonight joined by Rachana. A transporting groove, joy, infectious fun and even healing (as some claim on hearing Ranit!) are what we can expect from their fabulous vocals, bass, guitar and keyboard as they bring us original songs along with their versions of some they held dearest growing up. Semi-finalists in BBC 4’s UK’s Best Part Time Band Awards, they have played on Diwali in Trafalgar Square, at RichMix, the Nehru Centre, New Delhi TV (when their song for Sachin Tendulkar on his retirement hit the news) and toured further afield.
