Afro-Latin music in every form and shape on the 15th of August in Woolwich. The Garrison Church will indeed be the scenic stage for a double-bill event exploring Africa, Latin America and their music traditions.
From the Afro-Latin connection to quintessential Latin styles like salsa and mambo, Grupo Lokito and Tribo will guide you through a two-hour sonic journey throughout Central and South America, the Caribbean and West Africa to discover the origin and new expressions of the Afro-Latin soul and encourage you to dance to it.
Both bands are indeed impassioned devotees to sounds coming from across the Atlantic Ocean. If Grupo Lokito revive the Congolese-Latin bond fusing salsa with rumba through tireless and rapturous performances, Tribo are inspired by Afro-Brazilian percussive styles like samba, batucada and maracatù that they decorate with big band enthusiasm.
No holiday overseas this summer? Then comfort yourself in the sunshiny sounds and atmospheres from Africa and Latin America!
