Come to our next evening of Balkan and Middle-Eastern music at The Magic Garden, a hidden gem in the heart of Battersea, south London. We are the only act of the evening which means we will play our entire repertoire with the unique and spiced-up Tashkezar touch.
Tashkezar are about shifting musical boundaries - from Eastern Europe to Latin America, from the Bosphorus to the Euphrates.
Tashkezar are also about shifting instruments and personnel - from three part vocal harmonies, to Balkan brass lines and Celtic-inspired fiddle playing. They are about shifting perspectives and atmospheres - from wild floor shaking bass lines to delicately beautiful melodies. Tashkezar are formed of a core of versatile musicians - Mariam on vocals, Badger on violin, Pavel on the bouzouki, Max on cajon and darbuka, Raffy on bass and Sam on backing vocals and other percussive instruments. The core is at times supplemented with the presence of Tim on trombone and other horn instruments.
