Welcome to International Times, the Portobello party of intercontinental sounds brought to you by godfathers of the global groove Transglobal Underground and DJ Jamie Renton.
Tonight, we present London Zulu, the project formerly fronted by the late, great South African singer and dancer Doreen Thobekile. Doreen's daughter (and long-time vocal sparring partner) Ingrid Webster is taking her place in the spotlight to perform the songs of her mother and more. Backed by members of Transglobal Underground, she'll be singing her heart out on a set of Township soul and West London funk. Their set here in May was a floor-filling riot of good grooves...expect the same only even better tonight!
On the decks, the Flying Chillis AKA Jamie Renton and Alex Stewart plus special guest Transglobal Dhol player and DJ G-Man will be blasting out indestructible South African beats and other tropical roots sounds to spice up and nice up Portobello Rd's friendliest neighbourhood bar.
