Let’s hold tight to summer for one more night… On the eve of autumn, we will give you the chance to travel to Greece on the vivid notes played by Valia Calda.
The London-based quintet represents an imaginative take on Greek and Mediterranean folk, which the musicians enrich and, to some extents, defy, energizing it with jazz and electronic arrangements, plenty of improvisation and Balkan rhythmic character.
As a matter of fact, the ensemble takes its names from the Warm Valley, an off-the-beaten-track and scenic area in the northwestern part of mainland Greece, where Greek and Balkan traditions blend together.
For one evening, on Sunday 22nd September, we will dress up Hootananny as the Warm Valley, hosting on its stage Valia Calda and their suggestive and atypical Mediterranean sound. Join us for our monthly Global Sunday event at the Brixton venue and keep the summer rolling.
