Waaju x Majid Bekkas is a unique new collaboration between a distinctive band of heavy London psychedelic groove & a true master of Moroccan music culminating in a Gnawa fusion like no other. Through an evening of transcendental grooves & Majid's uniquely emotive musical voice, the band will perform a mix of Gnawa songs through Waaju's distinctive new arrangements, in what will be Majid's first ever visit to the UK as well as the first visit from any major figure in Gnawa music for quite some time.
Rhythms pulse. Skins Resonate. Feet shuffle and heartbeats quicken. Waaju’s energy builds, weaving psychedelic soundscapes through potent beats, transcending the stage and melting into bodies. With a unique approach to a familiar sound, they rise from London’s rich cultural palette, proving UK Jazz doesn’t have to sound the way we expect it to. Following on from their acclaimed self-titled 2018 debut, Waaju's latest studio album "Grown" has been hailed internationally as one of the finest assimilations of the new UK Jazz sound and presents the band at their most commanding and refined.
