Wah Wah 45s proudly present their first east-side excursion of the year, and their first at the beautiful Yard venue courtesy of The Hive Project. As a special treat, we're kicking things off with a special guest in the shape of one of the greatest DJ/producers and tastemakers on the planet, Gilles Peterson's favourite DJ and all round legend, Lefto.
Add to that a very special tropical set from Wah Wah 45s recording artist Gene Dudley, label head honchos Dom Servini and Scrimshire, as well as rising star Bopperson and bright young things of soulful London club culture, the Unwanted Family DJs, and you've got a very exciting package to kick things off in Hackney Wick!
LEFTO
As one of the most important tastemakers Europe has to offer, and affiliated with labels like Brownswood, !K7, Jazzy Sport and Stones Throw, this bearded party starter is always a couple of steps ahead of the crowd. Just check out his radio show on Belgium's biggest station, Studio Brussel, for evidence of this man's forward thinking attitude. Never assume to know Lefto's next move though, and with his roots in jazz and hip hop you could just as easily catch the sound of a 60s bossa rarity or Golden Era rap cut in the mix.
Famed for his gloriously eclectic DJ sets, he switches effortlessly between genres, and is a demon on the mic too! His skills have seen his international demand rise sharply in recent years, and since 2008 he's been a resident at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Sete, France. His global travels resulted in the Worldwide Family Vol.1 compiation in 2011, and he has more recently compiled albums for American Apparel and Universal Music.

GENE DUDLEY
This multi-talented 27 year old, residing in North London, unleashed his debut album, Saturday Shifting, on Wah Wah 45s last year. Since then he's found himself leading his band, The Gene Dudley Group, at shows in venues such as The Jazz Café, Scala and The Garage, supporting funk luminaries like The Hot 8 Brass Band and Myron & E from Stones Throw recordings.
As a DJ, Gene Dudley knows how to warm up a party, deftly conjuring up rare soulful delights and tropical treats as only he can.

DOM SERVINI, SCRIMSHIRE & BOPPERSON
Servini and Scrimshire are the men behind Wah Wah 45s, a label with a soulful yet eclectic outlook, currently celebrating 15 years of diverse musical output. Dom is also a respected music journalist, radio host and DJ in his own right, and Scrimshire is simply one of the most talented DJ/ producers around right now. Backed up by new boy to the fold, Bopperson, this trio will be flying the Wah Wah flag with a back-to-back set of dance floor delights and Wah Wah family favourites.

UNWANTED FAMILY DJS
This crew of twenty-somethings have been causing somewhat of a splash in London of late with their epic underground parties and seamless, open-minded DJ sets across the capital. Wah Wah and Unwanted started working together late last year, and it's a combination that seems to bring out the best in both, and in the crowd, who can't seem to get enough of these boys right now!

Event Review: Jazz:Re:Found Festival (Turin, Italy; 29th November to 3rd December 2017)
Embraced by the Alps Mountains in the North-western area of Italy, Turin is a city marked by its aristocratic past and industrial history. This contrast best represents the city’s multiple facets: richness and poverty, innovation and tradition, history and modernity all living together in one place. This blend and mix…
