Wahaca’s Day Of The Dead Fiesta At The Vaults

Wahaca's Day of the Dead Fiesta at The Vaults
Waterloo, London 3, 4 & 5th of November, 6pm-2am.

Discover a nocturnal celebration of Modern Mexico at Wahaca’s 3 night agave fuelled fiesta where the living come to celebrate the dead, through music, performance, art and street food.

The celebrations kick off at The Land of the Remembered taking over the Leake Street tunnel under Waterloo Station, offering Mexican Street food from Wahaca’s Taco Truck, DF/Mexico, and London street food scene favourites: Patty & Bun, Bob’s Lobster and Anna Mae’s Mac & Cheese featuring Mexican specials, along with deadly Margaritas, Mexican beers, Pan de Muerto, hot chocolate and a vast array of Mexican curiosities to browse, after visiting the Katrina face-painting station and dressing up area, all in a breath taking environment decorated by artist Murnau Den Linden.

Immersive theatre group Shotgun Carousel and the incredible Voodoo Love Orchestra will lead the Dia de Muertos procession on Leake Street taking you to the unique setting of The Vaults tunnels, where your soul will be let loose to electro-mexican DJ’s Rayo (MX), Cal Jader (UK) and Oscar Arroyo (UK) in the Grave-rave-yard.

Join the masked legends of Lucha Libre in the DF/Mexico tunnel, sip the drink of the gods in the Mezcaleria or at one of many tequila bars and shake your bones to Latin-punk, Afro-Mexican beats & indie mambo bands Centavrvs (MEX), Los Chinches (UK) and headlining Thursday: Los Indios (MEX/COL) , Friday: Orkesta Mendoza (MEX/US) and Saturday Family Atlantica (UK/VEN) performing live on the Wahaca stage.

Seek redemption at the Tunnel of Remembrance, a tunnel representing the essence of our celebrations, where colourful Mexican shrines will celebrate the life of David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince and other great souls that have left us this year.

Dress up, get painted, and test that steady hand at our Lustful life-drawing tunnel with live body painted Catrin and Katrina models.

Submerge yourself in the reimagined Vaults tunnels, all set to bring the vibrancy of this most uplifting of Mexican festivals to life, with live street art, a unique “Friends of the Dead” photography exhibition by Jess Kohl, and an exclusive Supper club with our very own Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers.

Review: Family Atlantica @ Battersea Arts Centre (London, 14th September 2016)

It’s always good to go back to the Family. You can constantly feel at home with them and experience that comfortable atmosphere which smoothly makes you at ease. I don’t know if that’s because of the music they play, attitude they have, or good vibes they give out, but every…

Album Review: Family Atlantica – Cosmic Unity [Soundway, 13th May 2016]

Family Atlantica is ‘London’s musical melting pot at it’s very best’ according to reviews from The Guardian. The band, which consists of London-born multi-instrumentalist Jack Yglesias, Venezuelan vocalist Luzmira Zerpa, and half-Nigerian, half-Ghanian percussionist Kwame Crentsil, started out in an abandoned vicarage in Hackney, East London, before winning fans over with…
