Gallery: Ealing Jazz Festival @ Walpole Park (London; Saturday 28th July 2018)

zara-mcfarlane-16

We’re guilty of rarely venturing too far west in London, but when we do we always live our days up, attending outstanding events and enjoying every minute of it.

The 2018 edition of Ealing Jazz Festival was no exception. Despite the blustery weather blowing sand all over Walpole Park and forcing the audience to squeeze their eyes shut, under the two tents set up as stages it was an oasis of quality music and smooth vibes.

Some far-reaching sounds from the likes of Afro-Brazilian Londoners Let Drum Beat, plenty of urban jazz thanks to Zara McFarlane and Vels Trio, and a flood of musicianship from those such as drum master Tony Allen kept us company throughout our Ealing visit on the last Saturday of July.

Take a gander at it in our gallery!

Podcast: Radio Mukambo #497 – Future Sound of Afrobeat

This week Radio Mukambo only serves afrobeat. Some sounds you’ll recognize as afrobeat, others may be what the future of afrobeat will sound like. Event Review: We Out Here Festival (Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire; Thursday 15th to Sunday 18 August 2019)

An inaugural festival is always going to be packed with risk and suspense, and after the downpour that Friday night experienced, a breath was held in anticipation of Saturday’s events. However, it is with sheer delight I report that the proceedings seemingly went ahead seamlessly. Saturday I have to jump…
