Gallery: Toots & The Maytals + The Beat + Pama International + Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry… @ Alexandra Palace (London; Saturday 8th September 2018)
Devotees of everything reggae descended en masse to Ally Pally to get close with the aristocracy of Jamaican music. The all-day event held in the fading Great Hall saw fans sweating out their best hip grinding moves. Popular artists such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Rodigan, Pama International and The Beat each brought their own swagger with a mix of ska, groove and play.
The prolific Toots and The Maytals burnt the roof with song after song of hits. One time. Ten times. Frederick Nathaniel “Toots” Hibbert, even at the age of 75, channels a godly soul into his reggae. Backed always by a positive message and fizzing with energy, the frontman also wove in his trademark blues, gospel and rock n roll touch.
Take a look at our gallery below to soak in the sunny vibrations from these legendary players!
