Safe & Sounds: Safe & Sounds #42 – Mariam Morid

MARIAM_violine-35

This Corona stuff really sucks ey! Since we might all be bound by borders for a while, we’d like to come together and share some happiness in the shape of a playlist or mix!

In the next days and weeks, check out Safe & Sounds, where we will figuratively introduce you to and put you in touch with music whizzes, featuring their selections, collections and picks from all around the globe.

Be “Safe & Sounds” and wash your hands!

In this playlist I share some of my fellow female artists who inspired me, some of them from Morocco where I am right now and from Afghanistan and Spain. All of whom have been touched by or have touched the music of migrating people. I have started using these influences to compose my own music, bringing together all these fantastic influences. And making a sense of this beautiful world through music.

(Mariam Morid)

Mariam Morid is a violinist and composer of Afghan heritage, currently locked down in Morocco. Mariam is a recent graduate of SOAS University in Music Performance specializing in Gypsy music, and exploring different styles ranging from Indian, Afghan, Bulgarian to Arabic influences.
