This week, Radio Mukambo takes you to the French Caribbean to discover Disques Debs, a label that released hundreds of records, playing a pivotal role in bringing the creole music of Guadeloupe and Martinique to a wider international audience. “Cadence Révolution: Disques Debs International Vol. 2 (1973-1981)” is our cd of the week, out on Strut Records.

We also listen to The J&B Kings (Dubmatix & Bill King) paying respect to the Congo, a wildly popular dance featured in Hollywood Latin musicals in the late 1930s.

We witness the resurrection of Ibrahim Ferrer, who’s 2003 album Buenos Hermanos is remixed & remastered by producer Ry Cooder, out on World Circuit.

To finish we go to Africa with new singles by Nihiloxica (Uganda), Mzee & Rafiki (South Africa) feat. Soweto Gospel Choir & Oluhle (Zimbabwe), and legendary Malagasy guitarist Damily.
